Political Journey & Leadership
Preetam Singh was born and raised in Pali Dungra village in the Sonkh area of Mathura, the son of Maharaj Singh. Elected Gram Pradhan of his village in 1995, he served two terms through 2005 before going on to lead the Samajwadi Yuvjan Sabha and Ajit Sena at the district level. He was elected Block Pramukh of Govardhan in 2010 and again in 2021.
He contested the Goverdhan Assembly seat twice — in 2012 on a Samajwadi Party ticket, and in 2022 as the joint SP–RLD candidate, polling 55,679 votes for third place. Alongside politics, he built a career in business and agriculture, and is widely remembered for his COVID-19 relief work in the Govardhan region.
In July 2026, the Rashtriya Lok Dal appointed him District President for Mathura. On his appointment, he thanked National President Jayant Chaudhary and Braj regional president Brijesh Chahar, and pledged to carry forward the farmer-friendly ideology of Bharat Ratna Chaudhary Charan Singh — to be the voice of farmers, workers, youth, villages and the poor.
